Teens: 9th – 12th Grade
Camps run 9 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday unless otherwise stated

Session 2: June 28 - July 2 ~ Leadership in Nature
Becoming a good leader doesn’t have to be boring- be adventurous and practice the teamwork and outdoor survival skills that it takes to be a natural leader. Participate in group initiatives, a Kalamazoo River cleanup by canoe, and challenge yourself on the high-ropes at the Adventure Center at Pretty Lake. Improve your communication and problem-solving skills and lead a program for younger campers. Learn tricks of the trade from the School and Community Programs Director. Cap off the week with an overnight campout and night hike. Campers who complete this program are eligible to apply for camp staff positions in 2011.
$300 Member, $325 Non-Member

Session 3: July 12-16 ~ Wilderness Challenge
Step into KNC’s wild places on a five day, four night challenge that you will never forget! Travel to the remote parts of KNC and put your backcountry skills to the test. Study dune ecology, swim and camp at Saugatuck Dunes State Park and canoe on the Kalamazoo River. Learn to navigate wilderness challenges, camp, cook, hike and connect with your teammates each day.  Discover the beautiful wild places at the Nature Center, and learn about yourself along the way.  See if you have what it takes to brave the elements and take your skills to the next level.
$375 Member, $400 Non-Member  
Campouts are Monday-Thursday night ● Tents and meals are provided ● Tents are shared with same-gender campers only.

Session 5: July 25-August 2 ~ Backcountry Adventures: Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
This trip offers the backcountry experience of a lifetime as we explore the north woods and hike parts of the North Country Trail. Once at the Lakeshore, head toward Grand Sable Dunes, which overlook Lake Superior at a height of at least 300 ft. Then, hike along the lakeshore toward the amazing multicolored sandstone cliffs. Each bend of the trail offers breathtaking views of Lake Superior. Join us as we explore the beautiful natural features of the National Lakeshore, work together and apply your leadership skills setting up camp and cooking meals. Step into the backcountry and create memories that will last forever.
$550 Member, $600 Non-Member  
Trip runs Saturday-Sunday nights ● Tents and meals are provided ● Tents are shared with same-gender campers only● Campers supply sleeping gear, backpack and personal items ● Pre-trip meeting is mandatory
• Parent and teen meeting: Monday, 7/19 6 - 7:30 pm
• Meet at Adventure House, Saturday 7/24 at 9 am, Return on Monday 8/2 at 6 pm

Session 7: August 9-13 ~ Canoe, Climb & Camp
Learn the outdoor recreation and camping skills that it takes to have awesome adventures for years to come. Get acquainted with the plants and animals of Michigan. Use outdoor survival techniques like shelter and fire building, archery, orienteering and GPS navigation and Geocaching. Practice safety, knots and rock climbing etiquette at Climb Kalamazoo. Sharpen your paddling skills on the Kalamazoo River. Challenge yourself with the three C’s of summer: Canoe, Climb and Camp.
$275 Member, $300 Non-Member
